Steve Hammond first encountered a Citroen D series when his father brought home an ID19 in 1963.

One look under the hood and Steve knew he just might have hydraulic fluid for blood. Being a bicycle racer, Steve sped light speed like Glenn Curtiss to the local Berkeley, California library to learn all he could about aircraft hydraulic systems. Armed with this knowledge he was amply prepared to service and maintain his own Citroen ID19B that he bought new in 1968. Aside from his trusty Cinelli bicycle, Steve's main transportation since 1963 has always been Citroen D series automobiles.

He has successfully performed all his own service, maintenance and repairs on his own car and many of his friends and associates cars for over 40 years and has yet to meet a Citroen he did not like.  As Citroen service and maintenance outlets slowly closed doors in the U.S. and with Citroen having no U.S. presence or support since the late 70's, Steve conceived Citraulics as a resource for Citroen owners to help maintain their cars.

Much like Franklin, Nash, Studebaker, Kaiser, Hudson and the like, the Citroen Car Club also plays a large role in Citroen support and is greatly augmented by Citraulics who in turn augments the support of the club. "It's all about keeping these historic, ground breaking, automobiles on the road and providing enjoyment of the marques motoring experience".

The main mission of Citraulics that no D series Citroen should be neglected or drivien in fear of a hydraulic breakdown. Parallel to this is that repair costs should be reasonable even given the complexity of many of the cars components.

Citraulics employs up to date technology and equipment including specialized tools to provide exemplary reconditioned parts and long lasting service to existing servicable parts. Only the finest materials are used when replacing consumables such as o-rings, wear strips, seals and diaphragms some of which are custom made to improve performance and reliability.

Exstensive research is constantly done to maintain the standard of quality that is parallel with modern technology. If a new material or product is found to make an improvement without diminishing originality, it is used.

Customer service is paramount at Citraulics. Components are individually warranted and each part is bench tested before being shipped. Customers are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions to assure quality performance.
